Rental and Investment Property
Lending criteria and tax rules have changed for owners of investment properties in the past few years.
Effective from 1 January 2019, the new loan-to-value ratios (“LVR”) took effect. The deposit for an investment property is now 30 percent. LVR requirements can change from time to time dependant on the bank.
The 30 percent deposit can be leveraged from borrowing up to 80 percent of your private home.
Our mortgage adviser can:
- Assist you with structuring your loan so you can use the equity in your current home to buy an investment property.
- Advise you on the different lending options from the range of major banks and lenders we use.
- Advise you of the exemptions allowed under the current LRV policy. For example, if the investment property is a brand-new home, the deposit required may be reduced.
